KAT is dead. KIckass torrents community is down. Forever?

It is confirmed KAT is *dead/ and will not be returning anytime soon.

I stepped down as a Super Mod well before this all occurred and haven’t paid to much attention since doing so. By almost pure chance, my oblivious ass just recently got in touch with some other prominent KAT users who, unlike me, actually paid attention until the end.

I’ll sum up what I was told. The story is the site basically collapsed under it’s own weight from the top down. Site management imploded, and as a result KATs data was apparently purposefully dumped out the window. It’s weary body finally laid to rest for the final time. There is no indication it will return in any official capacity, as the people running it have fallen out incredibly hard and actually put one of them in a somewhat bad situation. The finer details are slightly more dramatic, but the gist of it is there.

If you are a former KAT user, TorrentGalaxy is where many seemed to have moved. TGx seems to be some kind of spin off of ExtraTorrent. ET and KAT were very close, and that seems to have held true even now. Will it be the same? Probably not. If you had any interest in the community side of KAT and maybe made some online friends there, you may find them again on TGx.

As for this subreddit, I dunno. It exists I guess. The only real point to it now would be to tell people KAT doesn’t exist.

So that’s it. The story of a colossus ends with a small, quiet sputter. I cannot stress this enough, there is no KAT anymore. Any site claiming to be KAT is lying and you should stay far away from it. Fullstop.
